Following on from a successful inaugural award in 2016, August 16th 2017 saw people heading to the RICS HQ in Parliament for the second annual David Bucknall Award. Adair’s MD Justin Sullivan hosted the event with RICS President Amanda Clack presenting the award.
This year See Lian Ong was honoured with the award. With an illustrious career spanning over 40 years that saw him inaugurated as the 134th Global President of the RICS and notably the first non-British citizen, first Asian and first Malaysian to be elected in the 143-year history of the RICS, he was a deserved winner. Although See Lian was unable to attend the event he delivered a touching acceptance speech via video conference of which can be viewed here
The David Bucknall Award was conceived following the death of David Bucknall OBE FRICS in June 2015. David a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 50 year’s professional experience, was a well-respected and iconic figure within the industry. The construction industry was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. It was decided that an annual award would be established in honour of David, acknowledging his desire to create opportunities for and encourage achievement among his younger colleagues.
