James has a BSc (Hons) Building Surveying from the University of the West of England in Bristol and a Diploma in Surveying Practice from the College of Estate Management in Reading, where is he also an Associate Tutor. He has more than 10 years of experience as a chartered building surveyor.
Before joining Adair, James worked for a range of building consultancies and founded his own firm, which has been acquired by Adair. He has significant experience across a range of sectors, including commercial, retail and industrial.
His responsibilities have included conducting pre-acquisition due diligence surveys, project management and project monitoring, preparing schedules of condition, tendering and contract administration, and preparing dilapidations schedules.
James’s previous projects include the acquisition of a Grade A business park (value circa £80m) and a 300-acre industrial site (value circa £20m), multi-million pound traditional and design & build projects, party wall matters for a large reroofing programme for a London Borough, and preparing portfolios for sale and leaseback by large high street occupiers.
At Adair, James is a Director leading the building surveying department and will bring his extensive experience to ensure a consistently high service to clients and their projects. His core areas of expertise include:

Outside of work, James is interested in anything to do with cars, particularly classic marques such as Morgan.
